Oil Filled Radiators

Oil filled radiators use a special heat-conducting oil, often referred to as diathermic oil or thermic oil. This oil is not burned or used up, it circulates inside the radiator to retain and distribute heat efficiently. It’s chosen for its high boiling point, thermal stability, and excellent heat retention, allowing the radiator to stay warm even after it's switched off.

The cost to run an oil filled radiator depends on its wattage, electricity rate, and how long it's used. A typical oil filled radiator uses around 1.5 to 2 kW (kilowatts). If your electricity costs £0.30 per kWh (average UK rate), running a 2kW radiator for 1 hour would cost:
2 kW × £0.30 = £0.60 per hour.
That’s around £72 per month if used daily for 4 hours.
